I'm sure that by now you're well aware of the NSA spying scandal and the extent to which the government is spying on your every move online and keeping it all in a database for future use. If you've been living under a rock for the past few months, the gist of it is that the Bush administration set up the PRISM-program to engage in mass spying on the population and the 'transparant' Obama administration of 'Hope and Change' went ballistic with it. Basically, the NSA has cozied up to the biggest tech firms in the world and got them to share their databases with them. They also reportedly installed backdoors in various encryption algorithms and did a lot more stuff that would put the DDR to shame.

But of course this is I Want A New Girlfriend, not fucking I Want A New Cryptographic Cipher so what does all this have to do with porn? Well, I was thinking the other day: if the government is really keeping tabs on everything we do, then surely they must know a thing or two about our porn habits. In fact, in a way a case could be made that they probably have the largest porn collection in the whole world.

But much more worrying is the revelation that the NSA keep records of our voice calls, texts and emails. Considering the amount of sexting and phone sex that goes on and the gigabytes' worth of dirty pictures that people send of themselves, this is not only a giant breach of privacy, but extremely scary in a much more personal way.

Remember David Petraeus? The four-star general turned director of the CIA turned wife-cheating partyboy? Well, his life got ruined because of a sensitive email. Now think about all the insensitive material that you've looked at and sent to others on the internet. Imagine what would happen if you somehow got on the wrong side of the government and they dig that shit up. Not a nice thought, is it?

Anyway, I'm not here to scare you about the implications of unleashing mass spying programs upon an unsuspecting (and now painfully aware yet unwilling to do anything about it) population. A look at the facts will scare you more than enough. I'm just saying: this whole thing is bigger than it seems and much closer to you than you think. Sure, they say that they won't abuse their power and this is all just being done to catch the evil terrorists. But do you really want some nerdy bureaucrat turned megalomaniac whose ass you kicked in high school to have access to all the disgusting shit you've been looking at on the internet? Yeah I didn't think so.
